On June 22nd, 2022, Lil Tjay faced a potentially life-altering incident when he was shot seven times in New Jersey. News of his shooting would send shockwaves through the internet. Fans expressed their concern online while we on the label side prayed that the worst didn't happen. Our hearts were low until we got the news that Tjay pulled through. For Tjay, that night didn't just inspire him to move differently; it also inspired his third album, 222

While in the hospital shortly after recovering, Tjay wanted to make a statement. He wanted to let the world know he was okay and address comments saying he was paralyzed or couldn't speak. As a result, "Beat The Odds" was released.

Tjay's recovery process was grueling, but he used music as a healing tool, channeling his pain into his work. This process birthed the album's lead single, "June 22nd," which recounts the day of the shooting. The track set the tone for the album—reflecting Tjay's resilience and ability to beat the odds against him.

Post-recovery, we traveled to Jamaica with Tjay to complete the album. This trip gave him a fresh perspective and further nurtured his creative process, adding depth to 222 that's apparent throughout the album.

The album showcases Tjay's more vulnerable side. He explores his thoughts about survival, death, and success while bringing in a few big-name collaborators to help further transform the sound. As a result, Tjay delivered what many call his best album to date.

222 completes Lil Tjay's three-album trilogy. True 2 Myself marked the beginning, highlighting his story. Destined 2 Win followed, showcasing his ambition and vision. 222 showcases his resilience, determined spirit, and ability to rise from misfortune to become better than ever.

TOURÉ ALI SHIVER is a music executive, marketer, and creative strategist whose work spans some of the most influential names in music and entertainment.

He currently serves as Vice President of Marketing Strategy at Republic Records, following six years leading digital marketing campaigns at Columbia Records. Throughout his career, Touré has helped shape the digital footprint of some of music’s most exciting artists, including Tyler, The Creator, Central Cee, Chloe x Halle, Leon Bridges, Polo G, and Pharrell Williams. His contributions have earned recognition across the music business, including a spot on Billboard’s Hip-Hop/R&B Power Players list.

With roots in business and the arts, Touré earned a marketing degree from North Carolina A&T State University and a master’s in media management from The New School. He also studied photography in Florence, Italy. An early chapter that continues to shape his eye for detail and creative instinct. Known for blending strategy with creativity, he’s built a reputation as a thoughtful, trusted voice for artists navigating today’s ever-changing creative landscape.
